Thales demonstrates the decisive cybersecurity moments at the heart of the daily life of citizens

Paris (France), 11th April 2018 - Over the past three years, Thales has invested over 1 billion euros in developing its expertise and footprint across four key digital technologies; Connectivity, Big Data, Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity.

Today, the Group is opening its doors to demonstrate with concrete examples how cybersecurity impacts the daily lives of enterprises, organisations and ultimately each citizen, and is announcing several important developments in this sector:

The creation of a Cyber Hub in Dubai this summer: a centre of excellence for Cyber Consulting and services, it will accompany the Middle East, and in particul ar the UAE, with its extensive digital ambitions of becoming increasingly digitized across virtually all its major infrastructures.

Ten months after the opening of the first Thales Digital Factory in Paris, 150 world class experts have already developed 7 new products based on our 4 key digital technologies. Thales will further strengthen its Digital Factory based in Europe, Paris, with 50 new recruitments in 2018. The second area to host the digital factory will be North America with the opening of cortAIx this summer, a research hub in AI with 50 AI specialists, based in Canada, to inject AI in all Thales technologies. The third area, after Europe and the Americas, will be Asia, where Thales plans to launch a Digital Factory later this year.

In addition, France has decided to rely on Thales for its digital transformation in a number of areas:

A major programme to help structure the future of the French armed forces: together with partner Sopra Steria, Thales will compete in the first phase of the Artemis programme, a Big Data platform for the French Ministry of Armies.

Modernise and migrate IT networks towards Cloud-based and cybersecured solutions for the Ministry of Health and Solidarity and the Ministry of Labour.

The National Institute of Geographic and Forest Information (IGN) under the Ministry for an Ecological and Solidary Transition and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food will rely on Thales to migrate, secure and operate its Geoportal with 500 terabytes of data.

In the automotive sector, Thales offers real time cybersecurity to the Williams Formula 1 team, and also has a partnership with them to work on the security of the intelligent connected vehicles. Thales will be displaying the solution it supplies to the William's formula 1 team at Vivatech in May. Thales recently signed a partnership with Vector, a German specialist in automotive embedded electronics, to cybersecure autonomous and connected cars.

On all of its markets, Thales adapts its solutions to new environment to always put data protection first:

In multi-cloud environments, Thales offers encryption solution to help cloud services providers to secure their sensitive platforms or applications, such as Amazon Web Services, Google, Microsoft or SalesForce. With a management solution on key encryption, Thales allows them to directly control and manage the level of protection depending on the sensitivity of each data.

Thales is also proud to announce its partnership with Gibson Dunn, a leading law firm in Europe and the US. We will work together to provide holistic legal, technical and business advice for data protection to our clients.

Our clients have big ambitions and operate mission critical systems, where safety and security have to be assured at the highest levels, in real time, be it in air traffic management, train signaling, satellite communications or air defence systems, where human life is often at stake.
