Entertainment commentator Phil Mphela has announced that actor Hlomla Dandala, who plays Zweli Dikana has exited The River after five seasons. Zweli has been married to producer-actress Sindi Dlathu's character Lindiwe Dikana.

INSIDE HLOMLA DANDALA'S DEPARTURE Fans of The River were not surprised when Mphela announced the fan-favourite actor Hlomla Dandala's departure from The River as Sinidi Dlathu's on-screen husband Zweli Dikana.

1Magic shared a flashforward of his character getting killed' by his son-in-law Mabutho at Nomonde's wedding in February though neither Mphela, the channel, production, or actor has revealed how Zweli will bid farewell to the telenovela.

The River season 5 flashforward indicates Mabutho will accidentally kill' him in the bathroom after he confronts him at his and Nomonde's wedding.

According to Iharare, a prophet revealed in season two of The River that Lindiwe will lose everyone that she loves.

That prophecy is unfolding as she's lost two daughters, Mbali and Tumi, her grand-daughter Mbali and she will also lose Zweli. The prophet told Lindiwe that she will lose her loved ones if she doesn't change her ways.

THE RIVER': IS MABUTHO STILL ALIVE? Actor Thembinkosi Mthembu, who plays Mabutho in The River was last seen in May when Lindiwe pushed him down a cliff.

Viewers of The River were however not convinced Lindiwe killed Mabutho in the episode because the season five flashforward shows him Mabutho and Nomonde getting married.

Lindiwe also defended Mabutho (Thembinkosi Mthembu) in the flashforward when Zweli attempted to kill him after he found out that he betrayed the Dikanas.

Viewers of the telenovela believe the actor Thembinkosi Mthembu took a break from the 1magic telenovela to shoot Bomb Productions' upcoming drama series Shaka Ilembe, where he plays a king.

Mthembu, who has always dreamed of being part of a Shaka Zulu production and having been cast in the upcoming series Shaka Ilembe told Sowetan.

To be part of Shaka ILembe has been a dream come true because I know that this drama series is going to be around for a long time. What we are re-creating is not a fairy tale or a fictional story that was created by someone - these are true events. There are families, people, tribal kings who experienced what we are portraying, he says.
