
Digital Skills Gap: Two thirds of parents believe lack of technology in schools will lead to digital skills gap on Jan 22, 2014 Samsung survey reveals parents think technology is better at home than in school
56% believe that investment in IT should be the number one priority in schools

67% believe lack of investment will result in a digital skills gap in the future
Research from Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, has found that over half (57%) of parents in the UK believe that schools do not invest enough in technology.
The survey of over 500 parents of primary and secondary school children also found that two-thirds (67%) believe lack of investment will result in a digital skills gap in the future. According to the parents surveyed, 56% believe that investment in IT infrastructure should be the number one priority in schools, followed by ensuring digital skills are embedded in the curriculum (45%) and investment in teacher training (40%).
Despite 97% of parents believing it's important for technology in the classroom to keep pace with the latest technological developments, 72% believe that technology at home is better than at school.

Schools are quickly moving away from teaching being a one size fits all approach, as different pupils learn in different ways. Technology is the key to helping teachers address this challenge. At Samsung we've created Smart Classrooms that are interactive and collaborative learning environments, which facilitate even greater interaction between students and teachers. The Smart Classrooms use a range of education solutions that are designed to increase participation and encourage fun learning. We believe it's up to manufacturers like us to take responsibility and work with the government and schools to ensure we are preparing our children for the future.

From January 22nd - 25th, Samsung will showcase its range of customised education technology solutions that encourage a student-centred learning experience.
Samsung's booth is located in London's ExCeL, Stand B98 close to the Business Visitor Entrance and comprises of experience zones and functional areas. Visitors to the booth will be able to find out more about Samsungs Digital Classroom initiative, a scheme that shows Samsungs wider commitment to help close the digital literacy and skills gap in the UK. it is centered on providing access to the latest technology in education establishments, particularly working with children and young people. Visitors will be able to find out more about this partnership with on-stand demos from cultural institutions such as the British Museum as well as with volunteer led learning organisations such as Code Club, an education team that teach young people how to code apps.
At the show, visitors can also experience the Samsung School and Chromebook Classroom live demonstrations, which show how an interactive and collaborative learning environment can be implemented and used for teachers and students. With features such as multi-way screen sharing, these Samsung solutions demonstrate how technology can encourage interactive learning and classroom discussions.
Also on display will be Samsungs latest range of products including its ME95C large format display, new large format 12.2 Galaxy NotePro tablets, and Tab 3 Kids as well as the latest Chromebooks. In addition, visitors will be able to take advantage of numerous presentations on the stand including Samsung School demonstrations, tablet content and Cloud Computing in Education.
