Axia Audio Shows Flexible Matrix Mixer Feature for xNode at IBC 16

The Telos Alliance leaders in broadcast technology and parent company to Telos Omnia , Axia , 25-Seven , Linear Acoustic , and Minnetonka will introduce its new xNode Matrix Mixer feature to international audiences at IBC 2016, RAI Amsterdam, September 9 13, Stand #8.D47. This update is available via the latest Axia xNode software, version 2.0. The exciting new feature transforms any Axia AES/EBU, Analog, Mixed-Signal, or Microphone xNode into a Matrix Mixer, opening up a variety of new applications.
Axia xNodes are extremely flexible devices. In fact, they are the first and only IP-Audio interfaces that are natively Livewire+, RAVENNA, and AES67 compliant. Every xNode not only supports audio stream interoperability, but also enables advertising/discovery of those streams natively, above and beyond AES67. At IBC 2016, the Telos Alliance will introduce the xNode v2.0 Matrix Mixer feature one of the most flexible and capable virtual mixers available. The xNode Matrix Mixer lets users mix physical inputs (like mics and playback devices) with digital network sources (like stream inputs) to a single output. With the xNode Matrix Mixer feature, broadcasters can bypass the studio console during automated dayparts and send on-air mixes straight to the transmitter, thus simplifying audio workflows. This one-of-a-kind solution offers the power and flexibility of a big studio mixer switching system in a compact RU device.
At IBC 2016, we expect to see more interoperability demos than ever before at the Telos Alliance stand where we will show all our Livewire+ gear, which is inherently fully AES67 compliant; at the Media Networking Alliance stand; at the IBC Interoperability Zone; and all over the show floor, says Marty Sacks, VP of Sales, Support, & Marketing at the Telos Alliance. The xNode was our first AES67-compliant product, and the new Matrix Mixer feature makes it even more useful and adaptable than ever before. Our customers are raving about it.
This tool gives broadcast engineers the capability to create the mix they need by integrating both physical inputs and digital network inputs into the Matrix Mixer, making the xNode now more than just an AoIP I/O box, but a gateway device that allows for mixing or converting inputs to outputs. For example, three Axia Livewire streams can be converted into a different one, like an AES67 stream. Or if the broadcaster has four AES3 physical inputs converted into four AoIP streams, he or she can then make a sum of those four into a fifth AoIP stream.
We have expanded the meaning of inputs and outputs beyond the traditional sense, says Matrix Mixer project manager, Milos Nemcik. The Matrix Mixer is so flexible that it's difficult to list all the different possibilities. I think broadcasters will invent utility out of this tool.
