Successful Extension of RAS Multiplex Center by Dimetis Dietzenbach, December 10th, 2012 - Dimetis performed the extension of the DVB-T multiplex center in Bolzano for its long-established customer RAS (Rundfunk-Anstalt S dtirol) as a general contractor.

For this purpose two HD AVC multiplexes per three programs and two SD MPEG-2 multiplexes per three services are generated. Both HD multiplexes with three services each are driven in respectively one statistical multiplex to optimize the image quality. The D9036 encoder, as well as the statistical multiplex controller of the digital content manager has been integrated in the existing management system BOSS BROADCAST Manager at RAS.

The BOSS BROADCAST Manager assumes the task of monitoring and controlling the devices of the multiplex center, visualizing current states and allowing a status request at any time. In addition to that, the system is automatically switching over to backup devices in case of received error messages.

Further functionalities are monitoring and controlling of output signals and according QoS parameter for four multiplexes, this service is performed by the BOSS STREAM Viewer . The configuration for HbbTV has been realized successfully as well.

The BOSS BROADCAST Manager ensures the automatic display of "Bev lkerungs-Informations-System" (BIS), that has been initiated by the S dtiroler Landesverwaltung (South Tyrol Public Administration) to inform the local population in case of major emergencies. The extension of the multiplex center has been completed on 15 November in parallel to running business operations.
