Munich | 09-Sep-2017 | Broadcast and Media Rohde & Schwarz joins IBC in celebrating 50 years of success 1967 saw the inaugural IBC conference and exhibition held at London's Royal Lancaster Hotel with 500 conference delegates and 32 exhibitors. This year sees the global broadcast industry showpiece celebrate its 50th anniversary. Rohde & Schwarz - one of a very few companies that has exhibited at every event - is joining IBC in celebrating its unrivalled success, as the infogrpahics show IBC occupies a unique position in the hearts and minds of broadcast technology companies and executives the world over. This September sees Rohde & Schwarz supporting celebrations marking the tradeshow's landmark 50th birthday. From its humble origins in London, IBC quickly evolved into a major international exhibition. By 1980, it had moved to Brighton where it entertained over 5000 delegates, 40 percent of whom came from outside of the UK and saw 114 exhibitors showcasing their latest products and services.Throughout the period, Rohde & Schwarz has used IBC as a platform to announce its most important strategic developments and projects. For example, when in 1995 Rohde & Schwarz developed some of the first DAB-capable transmitters and mutliplexers.
Without IBC, today's broadcast industry would be a very different place. It has grown to become the premier global conference and exhibition serving the international broadcast and electronic media markets with over 1600 exhibitors and more than 55,000 visitors expected from around 170 countries, commented Stephan Krafft, Vice President, Marketing & Technical Sales at Rohde & Schwarz. Rohde & Schwarz has a strong connection binding us to this annual technology showcase since we have exhibited at each and every IBC since 1967. Our histories are intertwined and we are proud to be part of IBC and join in celebrating this important landmark and its outstanding success.
