HP earns #17 spot on the Gartner Supply Chain Top 25

It's a huge validation from the world's top IT research company and our industry's leading peers and analysts.

Gartner is the worlds leading information technology research and advisory company, and their endorsement is a big win for HP. We just earned number 17 on Gartners Supply Chain Top 25 for 2016.

We did more than earn a spot in fact we zoomed up 13 spots to stand with other global companies like Starbucks and McDonalds. We even gained a perfect 10 for our efforts in corporate social responsibility (CSR). In 2015, we were number 30.

This is a big deal for our business, our customers, and our partners. It sets us apart as industry leaders and allows our customers to be confident that HP will deliver. More than that, customers want to know that the products they buy are responsibly designed, built, shipped, and reused. A supply chain makes that possible, and a stellar one like ours earns the attention of the industry.

The process

Each year we submit a detailed report about our supply chain, and we have one hour to present to industry analysts on what we think is relevant and important to them. This year, we immediately received an invitation for Stuart Pann, our chief supply chain officer, to be a keynote speaker at Gartners annual Supply Chain Executive Conference. We knew we had their attention.

The Supply Chain Top 25 rankings are based on public financial business performance and CSR data. Theres also a large component based on peer and industry analysts opinions on a companys leadership in the supply chain community and a companys future potential.

A 10 in corporate social responsibility

In corporate social responsibility we scored 10 out of 10. This is the first year Gartner has included the criteria.

Gartner's 2016 Supply Chain Top 25

Gartner was deeply impressed by our separation story. The supply chain delivering finished goods from factory to customer is the backbone of the company, and we couldnt drop a single order while we split 22 distribution centers and negotiated more than 800 contracts with 112 logistics service providers like UPS and FedEx. At the same time, we split or cloned over 1,000 buy/sell component agreements, negotiated 274 contracts with original device manufacturer (ODM) suppliers, and pulled apart 138 different supply chain systems.

None of this would have been possible without your passion and performance, Stuart wrote to his team. Our path to growth and profitability is laid out in front of us and I know its just the beginning of greater things to come.
