66 Primetime Emmy Awards Nomination

The 66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards nominees have been announced and we are thrilled that Technicolor's work is featured on over 15 of the nominated series and television films.

Of the nominated programs, Technicolor has provided an array of services on Mad Men, American Horror Story: Coven, Silicon Valley, The Normal Heart, The Big Bang Theory, True Blood, Game of Thrones, The Good Wife, The Trip to Bountiful, 2 Broke Girls, Degrassi, The Exes, Portlandia, Mike & Molly and more.

FX's American Horror Story: Coven racked up 17 nominations this year, two of which recognize Technicolor Sound's phenomenal talent: Outstanding Sound Editing for a Miniseries, Movie or a Special' and Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Miniseries or a Movie'.

Those nominated for Outstanding Sound Editing for a Miniseries, Movie or a Special' include Gary Megregian (Supervising Sound Editor), Timothy A. Cleveland (Sound Effects Editor), Paul Diller (Sound Effects Editor), Brian Thomas Nist (Sound Effects Editor), Steve M. Stuhr (Dialogue Editor) and Lance Wiseman (Dialogue Editor). Technicolor's Joe Earle, C.A.S. and Doug Andham, C.A.S. are nominated for Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Miniseries or a Movie'.

Technicolor Sound's relationship with the American Horror Story franchise began in their first season in 2011, and last year our talented team took home the Creative Arts Emmy for Outstanding Sound Editing for a Miniseries, Movie or a Special' for their work on the series' episode Welcome to Briarcliff .

Supervising Sound Editor Gary Megregian feels honored by the nomination, stating our editorial team is extremely excited to be nominated for the third year in a row! The sound for American Horror Story: Coven is such a collaborative effort between the production sound team (Bruce Litecky), picture editorial and the re-recording mixers, Joseph Earle and Doug Andham. Its an honor to be able to work on such a fun show and with some amazing people.

In addition to sound's recognition, our picture team has contributed to several of the nominees, including many projects whose directors of photography have been nominated for Outstanding Cinematography'. Technicolor's Tony Dustin performed the final color grading on multiple-nominee The Normal Heart (DP, Danny Moder), while Steven Sparkle Arkle is responsible for coloring three of the five series whose DPs have been nominated for Outstanding Cinematography for a Multi-Camera Series': Chris La Fountaine for 2 Broke Girls, George Mooradian, A.S.C. for The Exes, and Gary Baum for Mike & Molly.

When asked how he approaches the color correction of these series, Sparkle explains that all three shows share something similar; they all play a lower light level than the classic sitcom style, which allows the colorist to have more flexibility while working with the shows' looks.

Sparkle has been the go-to colorist for many of the nominated DPs. Beyond The Exes, Sparkle has worked with George Mooradian, A.S.C. on Happily Divorced and Kirstie. His work with sitcom veteran Gary Baum spans a plethora of series, including Hot in Cleveland and Sullivan & Son. Chris La Fountaine is a multiple nominee in the Outstanding Cinematography for a Multi-Camera Series' category, winning in 2013 for his work on How I Met your Mother.
