
Ready for the SVG Summit? Here's Your Five-Step Guide to Make the Most of It! By SVG Staff

With 50 sessions featuring 170 speakers, 75 exhibits, and 1,600 sports-production pros registered to attend, the 2019 SVG Summit (Dec. 16-17 at the New York Hilton Midtown) will be the largest yet as the organization looks to deliver the goods for a wide variety of attendees. There is, literally, a little bit of something for everyone, no matter what your role is in the sports production business. Here are some tips on how to make the most out of your show experience!
Step One: Plan Out Your Day 1 Agenda in Advance The first step to having a great Summit is visiting the Summit website and taking a deeper look at the various sessions and workshops. The Day 1 agenda is packed with a dozen different workshop tracks, so make sure to take a look at the MONDAY OVERVIEW GRID to get an overview of the Morning (10 a.m. 12:30 p.m.) and Afternoon (1:30 4:15 p.m.) tracks. Here are some quick links to the tracks that will be held on Monday beginning at 10:00 a.m. (the SVGW Networking Breakfast, however, begins at 8:30 a.m.).
SVGW Breakfast
8:30 10:00 a.m., Rhinelander Gallery, Second Floor
It's become an annual tradition to kick off the SVG Summit activities with the SVGW Networking Breakfast. The SVG Women in Sports Production initiative is open to all and this year will feature a panel of leading women who have built their careers by adapting to industry changes, embracing new technologies, and creating new opportunities.
IP Production & Engineering Workshop
10:00 a.m. 12:30 p.m., Gramercy Suite A/West, 2nd Floor
The IP Production and Engineering Workshop is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the state of the developments related to IP routing and virtual workflows. This year's program will feature panels covering War Stories From the IP Frontlines, IP Routing: What to Expect, and Virtualized Future: Dream or Nightmare, as well as case studies from Grass Valley and Zixi.
Live HDR Production Workshop
10:00 a.m. 12:30 p.m., Rhinelander Gallery, Second Floor
The Live HDR Production workshop is designed to give those who are seriously considering HDR a chance to better understand the concepts, the challenges, and the opportunities. HDR-production veterans from CBS Sports, Comcast, Dome Productions, NEP, and others will share share practical advice and tips to ensure your production meets your goals.
Technology Spotlight: Cloud Services
10:00 a.m. 12:30 p.m., Madison Suite, 2nd Floor
Figuring out which cloud service to choose as your core provider is a complicated decision that often involves understanding the providers entire ecosystem. This informative session is designed to give cloud service providers and their partners an opportunity to lay out their current offering as well as vision for the future. Don't miss in-depth presentations from Microsoft, IBM Aspera, and Iron Mountain.
DTV Audio Group Workshop
10:00 a.m. 4:15 p.m. in Concourse A, Lower Concourse Level
The annual DTV Audio Group gathering returns to the SVG Summit with topics including Production Audio for Tokyo 2020, Workflows for Atmos in Live Sports, Audio and Communications for Virtualized Remote Production, Meeting the Challenges of Esports Audio, and much more.
SVG Digital
11:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Gramercy Suite B/East, Second Floor
SVG Digital will once again bring together leaders from the streaming and OTT sector for a full-day workshop to discuss the Next Generation of the OTT Stack, Sports Betting, and much more. The program also features keynote speakers from Sinclair Broadcast Group and fuboTV, as well as a State of the Business Report from Octagon.
General Sessions: The Future of Live Production
1:30 4:15 p.m., Trianon Ballroom, Third Floor
This year's Day 1 general sessions feature the annual State of the Remote Production Business and Technology Trends panel featuring execs, an inside look at NASCAR's at-home productions, a look at cybersecurity in the compound, and closing keynote from SVG Chairman Mike Davies (Fox Sports) and SVG Europe Chairman Alessandro Reitano (Sky Deutschland).
Sports Content Management Workshop
1:30 4:15 p.m., Rhinelander Gallery, Second Floor
Always one of the most popular tracks at the Summit, the Sports Content Management Workshop will once again offer a deep dive into the latest in media-asset-management (MAM), archive and storage technology, content migration, and cloud-based workflows. Don't miss a Keynote Esports Spotlight session from Blizzard Entertainment, as well as speakers from ACC, MLB Network, NHL, Turner Sports, and more.
Sports Graphics & AR Workshop
1:30 4:15 p.m. ET, Gramercy Suite A/West, 2nd Floor
A new addition this year, the Sports Graphics & AR workshop will address the latest developments in graphics, augmented reality, and data visualization technologies for live sports broadcasts. This afternoon workshop will feature sports-graphics leaders from CBS Sports, ESPN, Fox Sports, NFL Media, and top technology vendors addressing hot-button topics, including sports-betting, player tracking and data integration, and much more.
Blockchain and Sports Advertising Round Table
1:30 - 4:00 p.m., Madison Suite, 2nd Floor
Increasing the efficiency and efficacy of advertising for sports content is an important focus for teams and sports rightsholders. Join SVG and Sinclair Broadcast Group as they host a conversation on the future advertising opportunities that new technologies can provide.
