Join FOX 50 and American Tobacco for a Fun Family Weekend
It's almost here! The FOX 50 Family Fest, featuring the Great American Tobacco Duck Race, expands to two-days for the first time this weekend. Come join FOX 50 and American Tobacco for two days of fun in the Triangle this Saturday and Sunday, October 5 and 6.
The new partnership with Pullen Park and the expanded footprint makes this more of a Triangle event, said FOX 50 Special Revenue Projects Manager Sylvia Lanier. It's perfect because of the demographics at Pullen Park: families. And families mirror the demographic at American Tobacco as well.
From baby crawling contests to rubber duck races, the super-sized FOX 50 Family Fest will have something for everyone.
The days are going to be filled with activities: face painting, the mascots out there, all kinds of interactive activities, explained Lanier. Mad Science is going to do some experiments.
From bounce houses to face painting, the FOX 50 Family Fest has everything a kid could want and more.
Lanier also talked about her favorite facet of the FOX 50 Family Fest.
I always get a kick out of the community coming together and the educational piece of Family Fest, she said. We'll have Noah's Landing with their live animal showcase. They've been with us since 2010, and do a phenomenal job of educating people as they come through.
FOX 50's interactive car, Zu, will be on hand for the fun. Get your photo taken by Zu in the X-Factor Red Carpet Experience, then find your pix later on FOX50.com, download and enjoy.
And enter for a chance to win giveaways, including a two-night STAY-cation at the Sheraton Raleigh Hotel downtown, complete with museum tickets and more. Take your picture beside the football cutout and upload to FOX50.com to enter. The drawing will take place next week.
From crawling babies to floating ducks, the weekend event has a race for everyone.
FOX 50 Family Fest takes over Pullen Park near downtown Raleigh on Saturday and then moves to the American Tobacco campus in Durham on Sunday. The centerpiece of the Sunday events will be the ever-popular Great American Tobacco Duck Race.
We're anticipated having the biggest river of ducks we've ever had, said Lanier. The duck sales benefit the Durham Literacy Center, Marbles Kids Museum and Museum of Life and Science this year. I get excited about the fact the race gives these great organizations a chance to generate revenue.
Throughout the history of the Duck Race, the event has raised over $150k. Lanier is hoping to step it up this year and break a fundraising record for the three family-friendly non-profits.
Pullen Park attendees may see a few ducks themselves. The Museum of Life and Sciences will be bringing their huge rubber duck to float on the Pullen pond.
