Talented Rhythm City actor Zamani Mbatha who's the brother of famous actress - Nomzamo Mbatha recently opened up about his journey to stardom and leaving the beautiful game for acting.

-- ZAMANI MBATHA'S ACTING DREAM Isithembiso and Rhythm City star Zamani Mbatha was recently interviewed about his TV career, landing his first gig after matric and choosing acting over soccer.

The star told Sowetan that he showed great potential as a soccer player at school, but the acting bug was just too strong, and he had to dump the beautiful game for acting.

Zamani is the younger brother of United States-based actress Nomzamo Mbatha who starred in Coming 2 America alongside Eddie Murphy.

Nomzano got her big break in Mzansi Magic's Isibaya and Zamani landed a co-lead role in Mzansi Magic telenovela Isithembiso.

He tried his luck after seeing an advert for Isithembiso and landed the role of Zamani and starred alongside the legendary Hamilton Dlamini.

PLAYING PULE NDLOVU IN RHYTHM CITY' The actor later scored a role in e.tv's canned soapie - Rhythm City - where he played the role of Pule Ndlovu and currently plays the lead role on season two of Is'phindiselelo.

I got the role in Isithembiso right after finishing matric. It was just after few days after getting my results.

In high school, I played soccer and I was good at it, but I started to develop an interest in acting when I was doing Grade 12.

Fans also know him from his role as Suffocate's adopted son Pule Ndlovu.

He reveals that Is'phindiselelo will start airing on the eVOD platform from 20 January.

-- BEING NOMZAMO MBATHA'S BROTHER The star says he's felt no pressure from sharing the limelight with his famous sister - Nomzamo Mbatha.

He rose to fame when his sister's career was taking off and says that his success is a result of his talent.

I have said this from the first time coming into this industry, that I did not come through my sister or being assisted by her.

I am here because of my talent and ambition, and she is here on her journey doing her own thing.

I normally don't put myself under pressure because I am a very patient person and I take time with myself.

Zamani plans to venture into comedy, directing and recently shot his first film but does not know when it will be flighted.
