Argentine TV announces partnership for the production and exhibition of Supermax in the country

TVP will provide filming support in Argentina for Globo's first original production for the international market

At a press conference held this Friday, April 8th, in Buenos Aires, TVP (Televisi n Publica de Argentina) announced it will co-produce Supermax, Globo's first original production geared exclusively for the international market. Argentinas Minister of Media and Public Content, Hern n Lombardi, met with Raphael Corr a Netto, Globo's Executive Director of International Business and filmmaker Daniel Burman, and presented the details about the plot and the partnership to journalists from the country's leading newspapers. The Latin American and Hispanic version of Supermax , which begins to be shot in Brazil later this month at Globo Studios, will also be have scenes filmed in the Jujuy Povince, in the northern region of Argentina, with the support of TVP.

This co-production is part of a strategic vision based on generating high quality products for the region with all the opportunities that we have in terms of both human and natural resources. This is the starting point to encourage the regional industries so that the country's audiovisual productions can enter the international market, said Hern n Lombardi.

Besides facilitating the filming and production in Argentina, TVP will also air the series in the country. The identification with the project comes not only from the series' artistic direction by Argentine filmmaker Daniel Burman in co-production with the Burman Workshop, but also by the fact that the cast counts with actors that are well-known by the Argentine audience, such as Cecilia Roth, Juan Pablo Geretto, Guillermo Pfenning, Alexia Moyano and Spanish actor Santiago Segura.

The stories produced by Globo are very powerful in Argentina and we have a close and lasting relationship with the country's audience. Just recall the final episode of the telenovela Brazil Avenue', which gathered about six thousand people at the Luna Park Stadium, said Raphael Corr a Netto.

Supermax is an evolution of our long presence in the Latin American and Hispanic markets. We want to take the knowhow we have accumulated in 50 years of work, and our passion for storytelling, to help renew and to encourage the development of the creative environment in Latin America. And to count on a partner such as the TVP in this process is very important for Globo, added Mr. Corr a Netto.

The original production is based on the plot of Supermax - Globos new series, to debut in the second half of this year - a story of suspense and drama that mixes reality TV and fiction in an unprecedented way. In the plot, eight participants of a TV show that takes place at a maximum security prison in the middle of a desert, are abandoned to their fate on the show's second episode. They have in common not only the quest for the prize that will be awarded to the winner, but also a dark past related to crimes and transgressions. There, together, they will have to survive the mysteries of this place as well as their own fears.

Executive produced by Globo, filmed at Globo Studios and in Argentina, and co-produced by Oficina Burman, SuperMax's adaptation to the Latin American and Hispanic markets is signed by Argentine showrunner Daniel Burman, who is the project's artistic director, along with Mario Segade, one of the greatest writers of Argentinian television, and Marcos Antonio Vidal, Argentine film and television screenwriter.
