Netflix ISP Speed Index for May 2021

The Philippines posted two major increases in May on the Netflix ISP Speed Index, our monthly update on which ISPs provide the best prime time Netflix streaming experience.

Royal Cable and SKYCABLE both jumped 0.4 Megabits per second (Mbps), each moving from 2.6 Mbps to 3 Mbps.

Elsewhere, Ecuador's ETAPA DSL/WiMAX also rose 0.4 Mbps, increasing from 2 Mbps to 2.4 Mbps. The Philippines and Ecuador were two of 25 countries and regions whose average grew by 0.2 Mbps.

Four different Taiwan ISPs saw decreases in May. Taiwan Broadband fell 0.4 Mbps from 3.4 Mbps to 3 Mbps. HiNet, Taiwan Mobile and FarEasTone all dipped 0.2 Mbps, to 3 Mbps, 2.8 Mbps and 2.6 Mbps, respectively.

Elsewhere in Asia, Kuwait's BOnline decreased 0.2 Mbps from 2.6 Mbps to 2.4 Mbps.

In Latin America, four services registered reductions. Bolivia's COTAS dropped 0.2 Mbps from 3 Mbps to 2.8 Mbps. Argentina's SuperCanal fell 0.2 Mbps from 2.8 Mbps to 2.6 Mbps. Colombia's Emcali dipped 0.2 Mbps from 2.4 Mbps to 2.2 Mbps. Trinidad and Tobago's Blink decreased 0.2 Mbps from 2 Mbps to 1.8 Mbps.

In Europe, Iceland's Hringidan dropped 0.2 Mbps from 3.2 Mbps to 3 Mbps.

17 countries and regions were in the top performance-tier in the month of May. Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Israel, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand and the UK all registered an average speed of 3.6 Mbps.

The Netflix ISP Speed Index is a measure of primetime Netflix performance on a particular ISP and not a measure of overall performance for other services/data that may travel across the specific ISP network.
