Netflix Starts Filming Dutch Comedy Happy Ending

This month, filming started for Happy Ending, the new Dutch Netflix film written and directed by Joosje Duk. Joosje was one of five winners of the New Voices contest in 2021 - a competition initiated by Netflix to discover the next generation of screenwriters in the Netherlands. The lead roles in the film are played by Gaite Jansen, Martijn Lakemeier and Joy Delima. Happy Ending is produced by Amsterdam-based production company, Topkapi Films, known among other things for Instinct (Halina Reijn), Girl (Lukas DHont) and Alles is Liefde (Joram L rsen). The film will be released worldwide on Netflix in 2023.

About Happy Ending Luna (Gaite Jansen) and Mink (Martijn Lakemeier) are a symbiotic couple celebrating their one-year anniversary together. Mink doesnt know that Luna has been faking her orgasms since the beginning of their relationship, and Luna has kept this quiet for so long now that she doesnt dare bring it up with him. When her best friends who know about her problem urge Luna to try new things in the bedroom with Mink, Luna proposes an exciting idea to him: a threesome. The following evening with climate activist Eve (Joy Delima) turns Lunas life upside down.

Joosje Duk, director and screenwriter: When I got selected for the Netflix New Voices Script Contest during the lockdown in early 2021, I couldnt have dreamed that a year and a half later I would be on set for my first feature film with the most incredible cast and crew. Its been a privilege to watch Gaite, Martijn and Joy tackle their roles with such humor, authenticity and charisma. Im very grateful to Netflix for believing in this comedic but vulnerable film, and for giving me such a wonderful opportunity to grow as a writer and director.
