The documentary Ouh, les amoureux! is slated for broadcast February 14 on Gulli As part of its special Valentines Day programming, Gulli will air a documentary devoted to love between children - a six-month plunge into the heart of six unique love stories overflowing with intense emotions, including love at first sight, fusional relationships and ultimate disappointment...

Their names are Elia, Thomas, Arielle, Francesco, Sarah, Emilie, Oscar, Nina, Ccile and Gaspard, in six stories involving children of different ages (between five and 12 years of age) with diverse social, cultural and geographic backgrounds. What do they have in common? They are in love. Their love is impossible, happy or lost. They hold hands and embrace tenderly even though they are only five years old. But their world of love is far from idyllic. Children can sometimes break off a relationship very suddenly, even cruelly at times - heartache also finds its way into their lives. This documentary depicts powerful love stories that can leave a lasting mark.

But what remains of childrens love affairs? Are their love affairs so very different from ours? Do we not envy them their pragmatism and simplicity? Why does everything become more complicated when we become adults?

They relate their hurts and heartaches in the words of children and show us their feelings. Their words are simple and direct, their reactions spontaneous and sometimes surprising. We explore their language and their loveplay, along with the views of their parents, family and friends. Through their negative and positive experiences with love, we can reflect upon our own experiences as adults.

Produced by Yah Prod for Gulli, this documentary reveals the importance of these childhood love affairs. As she followed these children for six months, director Mlanie van der Ende focused on sequences involving spontaneous reactions, allowing us to truly share in their emotions.

Ouh, les amoureux! opens a door for parents, through which they can try to slip into their childrens world and perhaps relive through them their past - but surely never forgotten - loves. It also offers families a rare opportunity to share between generations these moments in life that play an essential role in the development of every adult.
