The mighty Springboks and the All Blacks are gearing up for their second test match on Saturday 13 August at Ellis Park in Johannesburg. As previously reported by The South African, singer and actress Belinda Davids will be belting out the national anthem for Mzansi.

Here are five things to know about South Africa's very own Whitney Houston, Belinda Davids.

1. BELINDA DAVIDS IS FROM THE WINDY CITY OF GQEBERHA Belinda Davids hails from Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape and started her singing career at the age of 14. As per her bio, Davids found solace in music during apartheid.

Since kicking off her music career, Davids has performed in the United States and has upcoming shows in England, Wales, Finland, Poland and the Czech Republic.

2. SHE PERFORMED IN FRONT OF SIMON COWELL ON BRITAIN'S GOT TALENT' Belinda Davids was one of 40 acts who made it to the semi-final round of Britain's Got Talent season 14 in 2020. Davids belted out Witney Houston's classic single, I Have Nothing, for her audition. Davids received a standing ovation from the entire theatre, including Simon Cowell, for her showstopping performance.

3. BELINDA DAVIDS IS KNOWN FOR HER WHITNEY HOUSTON TRIBUTE ACT Belinda Davids has brought Whitney Houston's legacy to life with her tribute show, The Greatest Love of All. She has taken the show all over the world and has received glowing reviews from concert-goers.

Speaking to SowetanLive in 2018, Davids said she performs in the colours the late award-winning singer used to wear on stage.

I wear the colours Whitney liked to wear on stage. I wear her legendary curls because that's what she wore for most of her career and we have seven costume changes in the show to mimic her style on stage, she explained.

4. SHE HAS SHARED THE STAGE WITH R&B STARS The chart-topping singer has shared the stage with the likes of Keri Hilson, Keyshia Cole and Monica. In 2021, she performed on Showtime at the Apollo and the BBC's Even Better Than the Real Thing.

5. THERE IS MORE TO EXPECT FROM THE SINGER Belinda Davids released her Christmas album in 2019 and she hopes to break away from just performing Whitney Houston's music.
