Modern VideoFilm Congratulates their Own Dave Cole for Winning Outstanding Color Grading - Feature Film at the HPA Awards November 7, 0

Dave Cole (Tron: Legacy, Ides of March, Alvin and the Chipmunk Trilogy) was awarded Outstanding Color Grading - Feature Film at the Hollywood Post Alliance's (HPA) award show at the Skirball Cultural center last week for his work on the Ang Lee film, Life of Pi.

I'm extremely humbled by the win, as the other nominees work was exceptional. I have to thank Ang Lee for his inspired vision for this amazing film and to the exceptional photography of Claudio Miranda who continued to have faith in me and allowed me to be part of the journey, articulated Dave.

Dave graded Life of Pi while at Technicolor and we're super proud that he's won and that he's now here at Modern with last year's Outstanding Color Grading TV Winner, Joe Finely (Game of Thrones).

We are so excited for Dave to be recognized by the HPA for his exceptional and ground breaking color work of LIFE OF PI, said Mark Smirnoff, President of Creative Services, Modern VideoFilm.

Dave has made a name for himself in the industry as a supervising colorist helping to pioneer modern DI both here and abroad. Starting his career in Melbourne, Australia, Dave later travelled to New Zealand to work as a lead digital colorist on Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring and supervising and lead digital colorist on King Kong .

He has commanding artistic talent and works tirelessly to make a client's vision reality. In his short time here at Modern, Dave has made a substantial contribution with his artistic and technical prowess and dedication to his craft. Case in point he's helped shape the look and palette of such shows as FOX's Sleepy Hollow and CW's Reign.
