Tumble flips for BBC S&PP

BBC S&PP will provide full studio and post services for BBC One's new gymnastics show, Tumble.

The primetime reality show, featuring celebrities competing in gymnastics events, will use Elstree Studios' George Lucas Stage 1 to accommodate Tumble's large-scale production requirements. The 15,200 square foot studio will houses a diverse range of gymnastic routines to be featured in the show, including trampolines, vaults, balance beams and trapeze.

Twelve cameras will capture the enormous range of routines and aerial gymnastics, including a steadicam, a 45' MovieBird Technocrane and a hi-motion slo-mo camera. Two remote tracking cameras will be used for the overhead shots of the floor based routines or events.

BBC Studios and Post Production set up a bespoke editing facility at BBC Elstree, with a total of ten Avid Symphony stations, to accommodate the fast turnaround post production demands of handling over 120 hours of training material per week. Utilising the connectivity between the two Elstree sites, material is ingested, logged and edited at BBC Elstree and reviewed and incorporated into the live shows via the HD production galleries at the George Lucas Stage. Cinegy is being used for logging and ingest. Rushes are being stored in XDCam 50, with low res proxy files made available for viewing by producers working in the edit or back in the main production office.
