First Home for Holidays Project at American Tobacco Raises Over $45,000 for Habitat of Durham

American Tobacco helped raise over $45,000 for Habitat for Humanity of Durham through the inaugural Home For The Holidays playhouse event during the 2017 holiday season.

In its inaugural year, A Home for the Holidays project at American Tobacco inspired 15 local companies to come together for a Habitat for Humanity of Durham playhouse building experience that would make a difference in the Durham community.

The goal was to raise $40,000 towards the construction of one 500 square foot tiny Habitat home to be built in Durham in 2018.

Participating organizations paid Habitat $2,500 for the day-long playhouse teambuilding experience. Playhouses were then placed on Diamond View Park at American Tobacco during the Holidays for viewing and online bidding.

The online bidding raised an additional $8,460. In total, over $45,000 was raised towards the tiny home build.

Corporate partners for the inaugural event included American Tobacco, Habitat for Humanity of Durham, Durham Bulls and Triangle Mobile Storage.

The project will return in 2018 with playhouse team builds already half-way sold out.
