Universal Electronics redefines sense and control for the smart home at IBC 06

Universal Electronics (UEI) recognizes that entertainment control solutions are evolving to become the center of the future Smart Home. The companys latest innovations will extend its reach, utilizing sensing technologies that will build the foundation of tomorrows Smart Home reality.

UEIs new smart controller line INSINQ, is a series of groundbreaking, all-in-one pay TV remotes that feature the latest advanced input and navigation technologies including voice, motion and touch control. The INSINQ series offers native support of UEIs revolutionary QuickSet solution, which is already deployed in more than 260 million devices around the world including STBs, TVs, game consoles, smartphones and tablets, and has become the de-facto standard for effortless setup and control.

Alongside the companys latest lineup of advanced control products, UEI will showcase its broad range of technologies and solutions that improve the user experience, including:

Designovation: This exhibit showcases UEIs design expertise and capabilities and provides an insight into the companys vision for the future focusing on the consolidation of home entertainment, the Internet of Things and the smart home through four design concepts.

QuickSet : As the worlds only automated discovery, setup and control software, Quickset has made the universal remote control a simple and user friendly way to manage the connected home. The effortless setup and control solution is now available as both QuickSet (embedded) and QuickSet Cloud and will include a range of new features including predictive engine, IP discovery and control. At IBC, visitors will be able to experience the true benefits of latest QuickSet release in everyday use cases.

A Leapfrog in Control Solutions: At the core of any leading RF smart remote is its radio and micro controller technology. At the show, UEI will introduce its new cutting-edge silicon solution specifically designed for the remote control and smart home applications, supporting both ZigBee and BLE. Not only is it best-in-class in control performance, its latest RF combo silicon solution is pre-integrating all leading control and interaction applications and comes with a suite of embedded support tools to reduce the efforts of system integration to the bare minimum regardless of the target system.

Sense and Security Products: Leveraging its acquisition of EcoLink, UEI will showcase the companys new portfolio of state of the art, universally compatible, intelligent sensing solutions to address common home intrusion, monitoring and control challenges.
