Interdrone Expo 05: ZEI VR ONE Makes Virtual Reality Fly at Interdrone Expo 05

ZEISS will be exhibiting exciting new capabilities for its affordable, award-winning ZEISS VR ONE virtual reality headset at the upcoming Interdrone Expo, Booth 303, September 9-11, at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas, NV.

Simply place a smartphone into a tray and slide it into the ZEISS VR ONE the Virtual Reality glasses.

ZEISS will feature demonstrations of the fusion between virtual reality (VR) and FPV drone piloting, allowing drone pilots and aerial videographers to use the ZEISS VR ONE VR headset to pilot drones with an immersive pilots-eye view, and control on-board cameras in an easy, natural way through head-tracking.

The ZEISS VR ONE can now deliver a unique, immersive FPV from popular DJI Drones with the new CloudlightFPV app designed for the ZEISS VR ONE from developer KaiAras. CloudlightFPV is a single app that is compatible with popular drones from DJI including: DJI Phantom 2 Vision, Vision Plus, Phantom 3 Advance, Phantom 3 Professional, and Inspire 1.

The App enables a drone pilot or passenger a view from the Drone's point-of-view using the Drone's camera and displays the drone live video stream on a smartphone. When the smartphone is inserted into the ZEISS VR ONE with its precision smartphone tray, the headset displays an immersive image with approximately a 100 degree field-of-view.

The CloudlightFPV app with the ZEISS VR ONE includes aircraft telemetry providing navigational information for the drone as well as head-tracking, which allows you to easily turn the camera by simply turning your head for hands-free camera control while the pilot operates the drone remote controls.

"This functionality creates a whole new drone flying experience since it enables a pilot to feel like they are inside the drone" explains ZEISS VR ONE Product Manager Franz Troppenhagen. "Also, its very helpful for a videographer to frame a shot since they are seeing what the camera is seeing."

The initial app release will be available shortly after Interdrone with app pricing and other details to follow from ZEISS and CloudlightFPV via their websites www.CloudlightFPV.com and ZEISS from http://zeissvrone.tumblr.com. The initial release will be for iOS with products running iOS 8+, followed in the near future with a release for Android.

The advanced, high-performance optical design and precision lenses deliver a razor sharp picture throughout the field of view. The wide IPD range means that adjustments for IPD user eye-to-eye distance are un-necessary.
