Projected attendance figures at this year's NAB Show suggest more than half of attendees were experiencing the event for the first time.

Organisers of the Las Vegas show said that 54 per cent of the more than 61000 projected registered attendees were first time visitors, with 27 per cent of the overall number international up 2 per cent from last year.

NAB 2024 based the numbers on pre-show and onsite registrations and said they are subject to an ongoing audit, with those who have not attended since 2017, or ever, classified as first time visitors. Attendees from more than 163 countries were present, including 34 delegation buying groups from around the world. Ten first time delegation groups attended from Europe, Africa, the Caribbean, Oceania and Central Asia, said the organisers.

AI featured strongly at the event, with almost 200 exhibitors displaying AI and machine learning solutions, with more than 150 sessions showcasing the technology. The Show hosted five international pavilions, with exhibitors from the UK, Germany, France, Korea and Belgium.

Incoming executive vice president and managing director at NAB Global Connections and Events, Karen Chupka, said: We're blown away to see over half of our attendees this year experiencing NAB Show for the first time. This, and the strong international attendance proves that NAB Show is where global storytellers come to find the tools and technologies needed to create, distribute and monetise content.

Planning is underway for both the NAB Show New York, on October 9-10, and next year's Las Vegas NAB Show, from April 5-9.
