Great news for Counting Crows fans is that the iconic American rockers will be returning to South Africa in 2023 as part of their critically acclaimed Butter Miracle Tour with two performances. The Grammy and Academy Award-nominated band's Butter Miracle Tour follows the 2021 release of their latest album, Butter Miracle, Suite One, and the successful US, UK, and European tour of the same name in 2022.

The two special performances are set for Friday 14 April at the SunBet Arena, Time Square, in Pretoria, and Sunday 16 April at the Grand Arena, GrandWest, in Cape Town.

Counting Crows back in SA First performing in South Africa in 1999 to sold-out crowds across the country, Counting Crows returned to over 37 000 fans in 2004 before their last appearance in June 2008 following the release of their fifth studio album, Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings.
The band's 2023 return marks the fourth time dread-locked frontman Adam Duritz and the Counting Crows have performed in Cape Town.

Counting Crows: From Mr Jones' to Butter Miracle' Counting Crows gained popularity following the 1993 release of their multi-platinum debut album, August and Everything After, in 1993. With the breakthrough hit single Mr Jones, the album sold more than seven million copies in the United States alone.
According to their website, the band has gone on to release seven studio albums, selling more than 20 million records worldwide.
In 2004, Counting Crows recorded the chart-topping Accidently in Love for Shrek 2.
The instant success of the track earned them an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song at the 2005 Academy Awards, a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Song, and a Grammy Award nomination for Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media.
Over the last 30 years, the masterful songwriting from Duritz put the band at No 8 on Billboard Magazine's 2021 Greatest of All Time: Adult Alternative 25th Anniversary Chart .
On 21 May 2021, Counting Crows released Butter Miracle, Suite One, to rave reviews. According to NPR, the Counting Crows found inspiration in a new format as Butter Miracle Suite One is a record more accurately described as a suite with the four tracks like movements, connecting and flowing into each other .
