New industries, new engines for Jiangdong District

In recent years, e-commerce about peoples livelihood service is gaining momentum. In terms of e-commerce of fresh agricultural products, HOWER home-delivery centres have won 20 thousand registered users with 2000 orders every day. In the field of e-commerce of specialized markets, Zuijiaju platform in Modern Mall has started running containing over 300 first-class brands with nearly 1000 orders monthly; the Taobao Shop of fruit branch of vegetable company has also implemented cyber marketing.

In order to grasp the fashion of e-commerce, Jiangdong District proposed the goal to spare no effort in becoming a strong area of e-commerce and a special zone of e-commerce industry for Ningbo in 2014, stimulating the e-commerce and creating a cluster-type development pattern. After years of growth, e-commerce platforms such as Shimaotong , Dingcangtong and Chuanhuowang have gained nationwide fame already. At present, Jiangdong District boasts 5 e-commerce platforms with the annual turnover over 100 million RMB and 11 e-commerce platforms with the annual turnover over 10 million RMB.

As a crucial access to the transformation and upgrading of modern service industry, every district in Ningbo has accelerated the construction of e-commerce parks currently. Likewise, Jiangdong District has boasted more than 800 enterprises of e-commerce platforms, cyber marketing and e-commerce service with the annual growth of over 100 registered e-commerce enterprises, forming an initial development scale. In June 2014, Jiangdong District witnessed the opening of e-tao e-commerce parks . For the past half year, the park has attracted 58 contracted enterprises, realizing 100% occupancy rate with the sales over 200 million RMB, which has become fastest and the most agglomerative e-commerce park in Ningbo. During the e-commerce battle on November 11th, 2014, the enterprises in the park realized over 10 thousand orders with the amount of 13 million RMB within 24 hours. It was really an excellent debut.

As the only fruit e-commerce trader in the park, the boss of Nuwangbixia (Her Majesty) Fresh Fruit Dong Weijie has a lot to share with us, I have been in this park for nearly half a year, and the best lesson for me is the management ideas and experience of e-commerce platforms. According to Mr. Dong, the fruit industry has seen the coming of O2O development pattern which means that we not only sell fruits, but also serve and quality, a fashionable lifestyle. The e-commerce park establishes a platform for learning and exchange in terms of purchase channel and operating model, a sound service system with training mechanism and supportive conditions.

The rapid development of e-commerce pushes the transformation of traditional commerce and industry. How to rejuvenate advantaged commerce and industry resources? Jiangdong District is proactively creating the moonlight (night market) economic development demonstration area so as to promote the transformation and upgrading of traditional commerce and industry.

Metro Line No.1 which connects three areas at Jiangdong District is a booster of the moonlight economy development at Jiangdong District. The rail transit in Ningbo will be bound to foster the development and prosperity in surrounded regions and lead the growth in Ningbo. June 2014 witnessed the official opening of Metro Line No.1 including 6 stops at Jiangdong District, which connects key business districts such as Century Oriental Plaza, Ningbo Cultural Plaza and East-Bund Cultural Corridor, and greatly strengthens the economic growth in regions around the stops.
