(17/04/2014) German-based manufacturer SOMMER CABLE is presenting new family members in their popular SYSBOXX product line. The SYSBOXX system is one of the most widespread modular housing systems in the installation and entertainment sector and already in use in a great many installations and on many of the world's stages. The free scalability in all three dimensions opens up virtually endless combination options.
Over 50 different sheet steel modules for various connectors and many connector modules with quick connection technology for AF, AES/EBU, DMX and network signals may be used in all models of the line. The entire set of corresponding accessories makes the SOMMER CABLE SYS range your first and best choice for installations and stage use.
The components of the 100% made in Germany system consist of very solid steel plates (front panel thickness 2.5 mm) and innovative extruded aluminium profiles. The surfaces are powder-coated in finely structured RAL7016 all over to create a very discreet look with an ideal haptic and wear resistance.
Our SYSFLOOR, SYSBOARD and SYSPANEL product novelties now bring this high-class modularity into additional formats and allow a seamless integration into the wall, floor and distribution cabinet.
No more drilling or milling, no more expensive custom-made articles, never again long and unpredictable delivery times these are the customer statements on our SYSBOXX system , says Peter Rieck, Key Account & Distribution Manager with SOMMER CABLE. And the user can also draw on a meanwhile huge construction kit to handle all kinds of installations no matter if rack, floor, desk or wall with one single system. The high availability of all components ex our warehouse ensures a stressless and time-wise relaxed assembly , adds Rieck.
The new products in a nutshell:
The extremely solid SYSFLOOR-03/-04/-06 all-metal installation frames for the integration of audio / video / media as well as building wiring connections in ground tank connection units from OBO BETTERMANN, ELECTRAPLAN (SYSFLOOR-04) or PUK (SYSFLOOR-04) enable the assembly of the current connectors from the audio / video / media sector and thus offer the perfect platform for floor-level media connections. The SYSFLOOR-06 even allows the integration of heavy multipin connectors without having to worry about the mechanical strain.
The three available sizes allow the perfect adaptability to any requirements:
The SYSFLOOR-03 has the size of a type GB2 device mounting box and can be fitted on 3 width units with SYSBOXX front modules.
The SYSFLOOR-04 corresponds to the GB3 type and will hold 4 width units.
The SYSFLOOR-06 has the size of three GB3s and can be fitted with 6 width units in the slanted plane and 2 x 2 width units on the ground.
The 19 / 1 RU SYSPANEL and SYSPANEL5 frames allow a quick and easy setup of patchbays, device connector panels, connection routers or transfer points, e.g. in control or equipment rooms. The SYSPANEL can be variably fitted with up to four standard PCB modules, whereas the SYSPANEL5 can take up to five SYSBOXX front panels (1 WU). For a reliable strain relief of the supply cables the housings possess 28 metal tongues for cable ties. An individual lettering can be applied either with the SYSBOXX labelling profile or by employing the SOMMER CABLE laser labelling service. A cover lid is optionally available.
The PCB modules are available as 4-channel boards with either 3- or 5-pole XLR or EtherCON RJ45 connectors resp. The rear panels are optionally equipped with IDC terminals (LSA quick connection technology) or lifting clamps.
The modular SYSBOARD18 wall housing allows to install the classic junction boxes with SYSBOXX components. Due to the mounting plane recessed by 100 mm a multipin connector may remain plugged, even with the door closed.
An opening in the bottom of the housing allows to install either the included cable lead-through brush (cables can be lead out even with the door closed) or the included sheet steel cover plate. The door has a square head lock (key is supplied), which may be exchanged optionally for a locking cylinder with up to 200 different lockings.
The SYSBOARD18 can be surface-mounted or, using the supplied mounting brackets, flush-mounted on two positions. Inside it can hold a maximum of 18 width units of SYSBOXX front panels on 9.5 width and 6 RU height and thus may be fitted with up to 48 XLR type Ds. The rear and bottom cable lead-ins may also be fitted with SYSBOXX front panels of 6 WU (9.5 ) each.
With the door closed and the base plate installed, IP44 protection class is achieved.
