Ningbo will build more railways in the following 4 years

Zhejiang Province will implement its "88 Plan", namely, in 2014 and 2015, 8 railways will start construction and in 2016 and 2017 another 8 projects will start, including Chuanshan railway branch and Yongjin railway involving Ningbo.

Chuanshan railway will start in October 2015

Now Chuanshan railway branch is adjusting its feasibility report. Its specific construction plan is still to be decided. The railway is about 30 km long, with a total investment of 2.6bn, and is about to start construction in October 2015.

Presently, relying on Beilun branch, the multimodal transport of sea and railway has become a highlight of Ningbo Port. In the first 5 months of 2014, the multimodal transport of Ningbo Port has exceeded 50,000 standard containers. As planned, the total volume of 2014 will be over 150.000 standard containers. The Beilun branch will be unable to meet the development of Ningbo Port. The headquarters of municipal railway construction has agreed to invest 35% in the construction.

Yongjin(from Ningbo to Jinhua) railway is also planned.

It is a dream of Ningbo to build Yongjin railway which connects Ningbo with the western Zhejiang province.

Yongjin railway is an important support for the building of sea silk road economic belt, and an important way to connect Ningbo-Zhoushan port with the central and western Zhejiang, which has great significance for the building of "Zhejiang Marine Economic Development Demonstration Area" and "Yiwu International Trade Reform Experimental Site".

According to the plan, Yongjin railway will start from the Jinhua West Staion, running along the Zhegang(Zhejiang to Jiangxi) line to Yiwu, through Dongyang, Changle, Shengzhou, Xinchang, joining the coastal line in Fenghua, and finally to Ningbo East Station.

The total length of the 16 projects of "88 Plan" in Zhejiang province is about 1500km, with 144km of rebuilt line. The total investment will be about 135 bn. The stress of "88 Plan" will be on the upgrading of the weak parts of the current railway net in the province. Most counties and cities except Zhoushan are involved with the Plan. The annual investment is estimated to be about 20 bn.

After the completion of the 16 railway projects, the Zhejiang railway net will be more convenient, with 16 gateways to other provinces from the present 7.

In addition to "88 Plan", "Zhejiang Metropolitan Inter-city Railway Construction Plan" was also put forward, which plans to start building 11 railways with a total length of 461km and a total investment of 132.5 bn.
