SGL ANNOUNCES MAJOR SALE TO TELSON MADRID VIA VSNEXPLORER MAM AND BPM INTEGRATION 04 Jun 2014

SGL, a leading provider of content archive and storage management software for media and entertainment, has announced a major sale of its FlashNet archive system to Spanish broadcaster Telson. SGL FlashNet was sold by broadcast IT specialist VSN, fully integrated with its VSNEXPLORER MAM and BPM system. The combined SGL and VSN offering was installed at Telson's facilities to provide full MAM and archive functionality to coincide with the launch of a number of Turner International channels, in Spain, on the Telson network.

SGL FlashNet provides the archive element of VSNEXPLORER, giving customers specific FlashNet program commands from within the controlling system. The integration of the two systems allows operators at Telson Madrid to send and retrieve material that's already been processed to-and-from a robotic LTO library.

The workflow at the facility sees ingested material quality checked and sent to the VSN MAM system together with the metadata provided by Turner International. The material is then previewed and sent to the LTO library via SGL FlashNet. The benefit for Telson is that users have access to all the material and the metadata, in the same place, at the same time.

VSNEXPLORER acts as a central hub of information from various sources, integrating different XML metadata files, media and archive functionality. For example, for on-air Promotions producers are able to take advantage of the flexibility and responsiveness of the system to restore segments of archived material and even consolidate the material in the same file if required. This enables a very fast and accurate workflow of archive retrieval by using low-resolution browsing from the VSNEXPLORER interface and hotlist consolidation, directly from the offline content.

The VSNEXPLORER and FlashNet integration also enables operators to send and retrieve content from the LTO library directly from VSNEXPLORER MAM and BPM. This means the user can take advantage of SGL FlashNet's feature set but the system remains transparent to users.
