In light of the recent postponement of sports events globally, Astro has decided to offer its full Sports Pack customers* a special rebate of RM20 per month over their next two bills.
This decision is the latest in a series of actions Astro has taken to support customers during the Movement Control Order (MCO), including the provision of additional channels and content on a complimentary basis. Now, during the current Conditional MCO, Sports Pack customers continue to enjoy complimentary viewing of all channels**, while other customers enjoy complimentary viewing of News, Learning, Asian Movies and Stay Home Concert channels.
CK Lee, Head of Sports at Astro said, The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted many events globally including live sports. In view that there have been no live sports in the past 2 months, we believe offering this additional one-off rebate is the right thing to do. Active Sports Pack customers as at 31 May will have the rebate reflected in their next 2 bills in June and July.
Lee continued, We are pleased to see live sports making a comeback. Apart from curating best of moments and other sports content, Astro went live with the Bundesliga, K-League and UFC last weekend and will broadcast more live sports events and leagues as and when they resume. We are proactively in conversation on the return of live sports with the rights holders.
For more information, please log on to www.astro.com.my. For updates on live sport schedules, please follow Astro or stadiumastro.com's Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.
*For Residential customers only
**For Residential customers only, excludes Pay Per View movies and events
Frequently Asked Questions:
Who is eligible for this rebate?
Full Sports Pack residential customers (including Sports Bundle and Sports Pack add-on) who have an active subscription as at 31 May 2020.
This rebate does not apply to the following: Premier League Pack, Sport Lite Pack, Golf Channel, Astro Cricket, Rugby TV and WWE Network ala-carte customers.
What's the rebate?
Eligible customers will get a RM20 monthly rebate in their June and July bills.
Do I need to sign up to get the rebate?
Customers don't need to do anything as the rebates will reflect automatically provided you remain an active Sports Pack customer during this period.
Why is Astro providing this rebate now and only for 2 months?
The global impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on sports is unprecedented. Committed to serve our loyal Sports Pack customers during these times, Astro offered free preview of all channels on Astro and Astro GO from 18 March 2020 to 31 May 2020. In light of the postponement of sports events in the last two months, we believe it is fair that we extend this special rebate to you.
Please note that all operational and associated costs involved in broadcasting a full service including sports content have been incurred on our part without any rebates received for cancelled sports events.
Why are Premier League Pack/Sports Lite, Golf Channel, Rugby TV, Astro Cricket and WWE Network ala-carte customers not entitled to this rebate?
We believe we have played our role in keeping Malaysians and their families informed and entertained during the MCO. During this time, we have extended the enhanced viewing of all channels to you from 18 March 2020 until 31 May 2020.
Are there any other terms?
The rebate will be forfeited if you downgrade the Sports Pack in June/July after receiving the rebate. Full rebate amount will be charged back to your bill in subsequent months.
What happens if the loss of live sports goes on for longer?
We'll have to make a decision when that happens. We believe that we are doing everything we can to support our customers through this difficult situation. This is a one-off rebate for Sports Pack customers and there is no intention to offer further rebates given the number of actions we have taken to date and the significant costs that we have incurred.
