Former Uzalo actress Nelisa Mchunu who played the role of Fikile on the soapie has joined SABC 1's sitcom Ses'Top La.

The actress will take over from actress, Busi Lurayi who played the role of Phumzile on the sitcom, City Ses'la from 2005-2006 and again in 2010 and its spin-off series Ses'Top La.

Black Brain Pictures' publicist, Nyiko Bilankulu confirmed the show's return to Daily Sun by stating that the sitcom will begin before the end of 2021.

Bilankulu also confirmed the return of old cast members such as DiepCity's Mandla N, The River's Warren Masemola, The Queen's Brenda Ngxoli, and comedian Trevor Gumbi.

Another new face to the show is child star actor, Valdo who will play the role of Mandla N's on-screen son.

The director-creator-actor of the show, Mandla N told the People's Paper in May that the channel requested for the sitcom's return.

The show's repeats have been airing on SABC 1, and people love them.

Numbers were sky-high and the SABC told me people needed more.

So I decided to go back to the drawing board and plan the show. - he said

MANDLA N CELEBRATES 22 YEARS OF STORYTELLING The 41-year-old director and producer of DiepCity recently celebrated the telenovela's 100 episodes and stated that reaching 100 episodes was a huge milestone and a victory.

He told Drum Magazine that taking over from the first black telenovela and iconic show like Isibaya meant they had to make it work.

We had to create a product to take over that fitted the slot, competing with Uzalo, it was quite a challenge. he says.

He held virtual auditions during the lockdown where he cast 70 percent new faces for DiepCity and other Black Brain shows.

He founded Black Brain Pictures 21 years ago and has created shows such as, City Sesla, Abo Mazala, Thandeka's Diary, Sestopla, eHostela, Vula Vala, Loving Thokoza, and DiepCity.
