Mzansi's second most-watched soapie, Generations: The Legacy, recently postponed shooting after one cast member has been hospitalised due to COVID-19 and three others are seriously ill from the virus.

The show's executive producer, Costas Gavriel, confirmed to Sunday World that Generations: The Legacy took 14 days off its production schedule and began shooting again six days ago on 10 August.

COVID-19 hits set of Generations: The Legacy' Gavriel also said it was important to allow everyone who were not feeling well to get tested and to self-isolate if necessary.

Everyone who was scheduled to record, has returned to work. We are catching up all the dropped scenes from the production break.

ACTORS CONFIRM THEY'RE POSITIVE Reality star and actress Manaka Ranaka from The Ranakas, who plays the role of Lucy Diale on the show, confirmed she was one of the cast members who recently tested positive.

Ranaka has confirmed her recovery and says she has no idea where she contracted the virus:

Vusi Kunene's on-screen brother Kay Sibiya, who tested positive in June, said he is thankful for the support on set and has since recovered.

I feel safe because they respect protocols and the fact that we get tested every day is important, he was quoted as saying to Sunday World.

Various sources from the show stated that cast and crew members on the show were testing positive for coronavirus on an almost weekly basis.

A few weeks ago, more than half of the cast members tested positive.

It was bad. They had been overworking and shooting scenes back to back, just in case another level five [national lockdown] happened.

Another cast member who didn't want to disclose his/her identity, said they were fearing for their life after contracting COVID-19.
