G-Series bus compreor and plate reverb added to UAD roster

UAD v9.2 adds SSL compressor and EMT 140 emulation

Universal Audio have released UAD Software v9.2 for their powered plug-in platforms and, as always, this new update brings with it some exciting analogue-emulating goodies. Joining UA's ever-growing plug-in line-up this time are an end-to-end circuit emulation of the SSL 4000 G Series bus compressor and Pure Plate Reverb, an easy-to-use mechanical plate reverb emulation.

The SSL 4000 G Bus Compressor Collection plug-in ($299) promises to capture the near-mythical mix-enhancing qualities of the original, which can be heard on countless hit records. Meticulously modelled at circuit level from original in-console and rackmount examples, the plug-in recreates all the features of this legendary stereo bus compressor including the programme-dependent Auto release time setting and the Auto Fade feature. Additional capabilities have also been added in the shape of a side-chain filter, a dry/wet mix control for parallel processing and a Headroom control. The less DSP-hungry legacy SSL G Bus Compressor plug-in is also included, while those who already own it can upgrade to this new plug-in for $149.

Meanwhile, the Pure Plate Reverb is UA's second plate emulation after the EMT 140 Classic Plate plug-in. Considerably simpler to use, this new plug-in provides reverb time, pre-delay, bass and treble controls, plus a low-cut filter, stereo balance control and dry/wet mix knob. Nonetheless it promises to impart all the nuances of this venerable but still much in-demand effect, modelling the behaviour of the steel plate, transducers and dampers. Both plug-ins are available now.
