Industry Alert: Hot Docs selector in Australia

Sarafina DiFelice, Programming Manager at Hot Docs, Toronto, is visiting Sydney to speak at the Antenna Documentary Film Festival about Hot Docs. As part of this visit, Sarafina will be taking back to Canada eligible Australian documentaries for potential selection for next year's festival. This process will be coordinated via Screen Australia's Marketing Department.

Hot Docs is one of the world's leading documentary festivals and markets, and is North America's largest. It annually screens about 180 documentaries from around the world. Alongside the screenings, Hot Docs has an industry program offering the market as well as networking and professional development opportunities. It was last attended by more than 2,000 delegates, comprising documentary makers, commissioning editors, buyers, programmers and distributors from around the world.

Sarafina will be speaking in a free session at the Antenna Documentary Film Festival on Saturday 5 October at 11am, at the Berkelouw Bookstore in Paddington, Sydney. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the Hot Docs festival and what the selection of documentaries entails. More details are available at http://antennafestival.org/doc-talk/

Films must have been completed after 1 January 2013, must have not been submitted previously to Hot Docs and must be at minimum a Toronto premiere. Shorts are classified as 1 29 minutes, with features and mid-length at 30 minutes plus.

Screen Australia's Marketing Department will act as a collection point for eligible documentaries for Sarafina to take back to Hot Docs for potential selection for the 2014 festival. DVDs can be delivered or posted to Screen Australia, marked for the attention of the Marketing Department Hot Docs, by Wednesday 16 October:
