Demonstrations Will Include CCAP, nPVR, the Ultra HD Video Format and HEVC Compression At SCTE Cable-Tec Expo , booth 1154, Harmonic (NASDAQ: HLIT), the worldwide leader in video delivery infrastructure, will showcase the latest video processing and delivery solutions designed to bring increased operational efficiency, cost savings, and exceptional video quality to cable and multiscreen environments. As the market leader in pay-TV encoders, IPTV headends, and cable edgeQAMs, Harmonic sets the industry standard in enabling cable operators to cost-effectively deliver a high-quality video experience to subscribers anytime, anywhere, and on any device.
A key highlight at the 2013 Cable-Tec Expo will be Harmonic's NSG Pro Converged Cable Access Platform (CCAP), which provides the most dense, highly scalable architecture with the flexibility to support MSOs changing bandwidth requirements, said Asaf Matatyaou, director, cable edge and access solutions, Harmonic. We are in the integration process for NSG Pro with major North American cable operators for a number of applications, including video on demand, switched digital video, and M-CMTS. NSG Pro has endured environmental specification testing at extreme conditions, and we are shipping production units. As MSOs migrate to an all-IP infrastructure, NSG Pro offers the density, flexibility and investment protection essential for a cost-effective transition. We'll demonstrate these capabilities, and much more, at the show.

Cable Edge
Harmonic will showcase the latest capabilities of the NSG Pro, which converges high-density universal edgeQAM capabilities with future, integrated CMTS functionality to simplify the cable access network and streamline the transition to an all-IP cable infrastructure. Through industry-leading QAM density and the ability to converge linear video, on-demand video, and data onto a single system, NSG Pro provides cable operators with an easy, flexible upgrade path towards full CCAP and an all-IP infrastructure while minimizing operational expenses, as well as power and rack space requirements.
Encoding and Stream Processing
Harmonic recently powered the world's first HEVC/Ultra HD broadcast with satellite operator SES Astra, leading the way toward commercial deployments of Ultra HD utilizing HEVC compression technology. At the Expo, Harmonic will demonstrate HEVC compression of Ultra HD content at 3-7 Mbps via its ProMedia Xpress high-performance file-based transcoder.
During the show, Harmonic will demonstrate an end-to-end multiscreen workflow powered by its award-winning ProMedia Suite of multiscreen software applications and ProStream with ACE stream processor and transcoder. Highlights include the company's HEVC-ready ProMedia Live real-time multiscreen transcoder, integration between ProMedia Package stream preparation system and ProMedia Origin streaming media server, and new ad insertion and monetization capabilities.
An integrated headend featuring the ProStream real-time stream processor and market-leading Electra encoding platform will also be on display. Harmonic's ProStream 9100 features new linear ad insertion capabilities that enable local and regional ad splicing directly into live-to-air MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 AVC SD/HD transport streams, increasing operators' monetization opportunities. With the industry-leading Electra universal multifunction, multiformat encoding platform, the company will demonstrate additional MPEG-2 compression gains which enable operators to free up spectrum as well as leverage their large MPEG-2 STB installed base to offer new services.
