Annelisa Weiland aka Hilda from 7de Laan just turned 70

Everyone's favourite spinnekopvroutjie, known for her inventive food combinations and generally being lovely, hit the big seventy this week.

Actor Annelisa Weiland, who plays Hilda in the hit soapie 7de Laan, celebrated the day on set with a special cake from the cast and crew. Annelisa joined the show in 2008.

Annelisa, today we celebrate everything that makes you so special. You are described as a generous friend and colleague who always remembers others. You have a solid work ethic and a hilarious sense of humour. Our warmest wishes on your 70th birthday, may you be blessed with love and peace in abundance!

Hilda's character is described as:

Her entire life has revolved around making and eating food. She grew up in Fauresmith surrounded by friends and family. She comes from a household where food was made with love and a passion by all the strong women in her life. After a traumatic event in her late thirties she decided to relocate to Johannesburg and live a more independent life. Hilda has been a resident of Hillside longer than anyone else.

Kind, sweet, friendly, Hilda is just as understanding, forgiving and loving as her friend Charmaine. She and Oubaas are the perfect fit. Her biggest achievement was winning the boerewors competition - much to Matrone's dismay. The two are always going at each other to see who is the better cook. Hilda is supposedly quite prudish but secretly naughty.

But, as an actor, Weiland is quite different. Aside from her role in 7de Laan, she's worked on the silverscreen and on theatre productions.
