Tektronix Solutions Gear Up to Carry Broadcast, Media Industry into the Future at IBC 2016

BEAVERTON, Ore., July 12, 2016 - A wave of cutting-edge technologies - all intended to improve the experience for viewers - is coming hard and fast at the broadcast, media and entertainment industries. At IBC 2016, Tektronix, an industry-leading innovator of video test and monitoring solutions, will be unveiling new product features and capabilities to help the industry get the most out of technologies like 4K, high dynamic range (HDR) and wide color gamut (WCG), video over IP, and adaptive bit rate (ABR).

The premier annual event for professionals engaged in the creation, management and delivery of entertainment and news content worldwide, the IBC exhibition is being held 9-13 Sept., 2016 in Amsterdam and is expected to draw more than 55,000 attendees from 170 countries and will feature products from over 1,600 exhibitors. Tektronix will be demonstrating its full range of industry leading video test and monitoring solutions in Stand 10 D41.

To support the transition to live IP production, Tektronix will be showcasing Prism to help media companies make a practical transition to IP while preserving existing investments. With intuitive insights into hybrid SDI/IP production workflow issues, it fosters collaboration between IT experts and broadcast engineers. As a software-defined platform, Prism can accommodate a wide range of applications and will be continuously updated as new technologies and standards emerge. Alongside Prism will be the SPG8000A master sync and PTP grandmaster clock generator, the first in the industry with optional, software-only field upgrade to add PTP (IEEE 1588) support for both traditional SDI-based and IP-based media infrastructures.

HDR and WCG are gaining importance when it comes to acquiring high resolution 4K content. To assist camera operators, editors and colorists in capturing and manipulating high fidelity content, Tektronix will introduce a range of HDR capabilities for its WFM/WVR 8000 series waveform monitors and rasterizers at IBC 2016. The new capabilities will allow users to set correct white point and adjust levels to fully use the dynamic range of their content.

With the increased adoption of multi-screen or Over-The-Top (OTT) media services and ABR platforms, the amount of video content that must be tested and verified is expanding rapidly. At IBC 2016, Tektronix will unveil a number of enhancements to its Aurora automated QC solution, including new perceptual video quality (PVQ) scoring, support for the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud, and support for the AS-10 PAD delivery specification for testing content delivered to French broadcasters. Complementing Aurora will be Hydra, a new interactive player and analyzer for file-based content with expanded codec and wrapper format support.

For comprehensive monitoring and quality assurance of multi-screen services, Tektronix will be featuring its Sentry ABR platform that now includes decryption and decode functionality. Sentry ABR gives service providers the breadth and depth of monitoring they are accustomed to with linear-based services, including comprehensive QoE analysis on each stream at each bitrate in real time.
