The Pirates to Be Released in Dolby Atmos

Seoul, Korea, August 4, 2014-Dolby Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE: DLB) today announced that The Pirates will be mixed and released in the Dolby Atmos cinema sound format. Filmmakers use Dolby Atmos to place and move sounds anywhere in the movie theatre, including overhead, to make film audiences feel as if they are inside the movie and not merely watching it.

The Pirates, directed by Seok-hoon Lee, tells the story of a pitched battle among the strongest thieves for the great seal of Choseon. The film is the fourth Dolby Atmos title mixed and released in Korea, following Mr. Go, Genome Hazard, and Kundo: Age of the Rampant. Audiences will be able to experience the next-generation Dolby sound format when Lotte Entertainment releases The Pirates in Korea on August 6.
