Tonmeistertagung 2012 preview: NTP Technology will demonstrate the latest additions to its range of digital routers
20-11-2012
NTP Technology will demonstrate the latest additions to its range of digital routers and A-D/D-A converters at 27th Tonmeistertagung in Koeln. The four-day conference and exhibition will be held at the Koelnmesse 22-25 November.
Co-exhibiting with Mutec on stand O-23, NTP Technology will be represented by Sales Director Mikael Vest who will also address the conference. Scheduled for Friday 23 November, 18.30 - 19.00, his presentation is titled High-quality low-latency audio routing via IP Ethernet, new trends and practical applications.
We will be promoting the Penta 725 IP, 720 and 721 routers as well as the AX24 and AX32 ultra high quality digital audio converters to the German broadcast, post-production and pro-audio market, says Mikael Vest. We will have exceptionally high visibility at the event including demonstrations of the Penta 720 and 721 routers by Yamaha Music Europe on stand 0-19.
NTP Technology DAD AX32
Launched at IBC 2012 in September, the NTP Technology AX32 audio signal processor is a development of the highly successful 24-channel AX24 which is used by many of the worlds leading studios for ultra-low-noise microphone preamplification as well as transparent analog-to-digital, digital-to-analog and bit-rate conversion. Designed for no-compromise audio recording, mastering, post-production, and future-proof archiving, the AX32 retains the flexible control features that have made the AX24 so popular.
Housed in a compact 2 rack-units high 19 inch wide chassis, the AX32 allows large multi-microphone arrays to be accommodated without the need to transport a second processor. All 32 microphone feeds can be connected back to the control room along a single Cat 5 cable via fully transparent and uncompressed IP Ethernet.
A control screen on the front panel of the AX32 interacts with four adjacent pushbuttons to provide fast and easy local control. Remote operation can be achieved from an Ethernet-connected PC. Preamp parameters can be represented on the channel strip of third-party audio production consoles and workstations.
The AX32s audio via IP Ethernet capabilities allow master recordings to be networked from one studio to another or across a large building complex. The Ethernet IP audio interface handles up to 512 channels and uses the highly robust Audinate Dante technology employed in our Penta 725 IP audio routing system. AES/EBU and MADI inputs and outputs plus a Gigabit Ethernet IP interface are provided for use with a Dante Virtual Soundcard for PC, Apple Mac and other Dante compatible devices.
The AX32 is designed to integrate closely with Avid's ProTools|HDX multitrack capture/editing/mixing system. A versatile interface structure allows the AX32s processors to be assigned to any digital interface or patched between the interfaces on a channel-to-channel basis.
Compatible with all standard sampling rates up to 384 kilohertz, the AX32 allows production of future-proof master-quality Digital eXtreme Definition (DXD) and Direct Stream Digital (DSD) audio data formats as well as the 44.1 to 192 kilohertz formats commonly used for audio editing and distribution.
An optional ultra-low-noise microphone preamplifier provides analogue gain control in 3 decibel steps as well as digital gain control with 0.25 decibel precision. Dynamic range of analog to digital and digital to analog conversion is 126 decibels. The preamplifiers equivalent noise floor is -132 decibels.
NTP Penta 725 IP-compatible audio interface
Also making its first Tonmeistertagung appearance, the Penta 721 IP-compatible audio router and distribution interface allows a full-bandwidth uncompressed network to be established quickly and easily, connecting an entire remote site or studio premises over a single Cat 5 Ethernet cable.
Eight AES/EBU input/output channels are incorporated, plus up to three MADI input/outputs, two IP Audio Ethernet inputs/outputs, and an interface allowing control from Avid Pro Tools. A mini-module slot accommodates ST optical MADI connection or dual SFP MADI optical in/out. The IP Audio protocol is based on the robust Audinate Dante digital audio network technology and will interoperate with Dante-compliant third-party products. IP Audio routing allows low-latency tightly-synchronised transport of uncompressed signals over Gigabit IP Ethernet Layer 3 networks using-off-the-shelf switches and routers. A total of 512 channels can be routed on a 1 Gigabit network; more if the network capacity is higher.
The Penta 721 is TCP/IP controlled via one or two Ethernet ports. IP Audio routing of large systems is manipulated via NTP Technologys RCCore router control system which allows easy setting of connections on Gigabit IP Ethernet. Dedicated control software compatible with Microsoft Windows can be used for controlling and setting up the Penta 721 on a unit-to-unit basis when less advanced operation is required. The Penta 721 can also be controlled via Audinate Dante IP Audio routing controller software.
