Amazon's AVoD streaming service IMDb TV appears to be preparing to launch in the UK, with the company currently looking to recruit a lead for the project.

In a job advert seen by TVBEurope, Amazon states the new recruit, who will be given the title head of IMDb TV UK, will be a key leader in launching and building the next great video service for UK customers.

The role's responsibilities include leveraging the core US IMDb TV business team to drive scale across marketing, content, product and ad sales programmes, as well as building strong relationships with senior leaders on internal stakeholder teams including Content Acquisition, Prime Video, Ad Sales, Product, etc.

IMDb first touted a European launch for IMDb in 2019. It originally debuted in the United States at the beginning of 2019 under the name Freedive, later rebranding as IMDb TV. It's content is free to watch but includes unskippable adverts (there is a paid-for version with no adverts).

In the US, the service is available on the IMDb website, on Fire TV and through the Prime Video app on smart TVs, mobile devices, Fire tablet, and other tablets. It is also available on the IMDb app for Android and iOS, as well as Echo screen devices, Apple TV, and other devices.

While audience figures for IMDb TV aren't available, Amazon does state in its marketing material that it takes advantage of IMDb's loyal audience of over 250 million unique monthly visitors.
