The African Energy Chamber (AEC) will be celebrating Africa Energy Week between 18 and 21 October with the theme, Exploring and investing in Africa's Energy Future while driving an enabling environment . This year, the AEC will host a Just Energy Transition with amapiano and afrobeats stars at Cabo Beach Club in Cape Town on 17 October.

WHAT IS THE AFRICAN ENERGY CHAMBER? The AEC brings government entities and businesses together to grow the energy sector on the continent. African Energy Week is the AEC's annual conference, exhibition and networking event.

The week-long event will see various stakeholders and investors discussing further development of the energy sector.

The event also aims to develop the industry by integrating music and culture with conversations about energy, while also creating a platform for stakeholders and music-lovers to enjoy themselves over some chart-topping tunes.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE JUST ENERGY TRANSITION' CONCERT The Just Energy Transition concert is set to take place on 17 October, before the Africa Energy Week kicks off the following day. By hosting the concert at Cabo Beach Club in Cape Town, the AEC hopes to make energy poverty history.

We've been committed to African energy and Africa's young people from the get-go, said NJ Ayuk, the executive chairman of the organisation.

With great music and great entertainment, we will remain focused on the need to have control of our own narrative and tell our own story. In Cape Town, we will drive our narrative through a concert dedicated to young people and making energy poverty history, he continued.

The line-up of artists that will take the stage is yet to be announced.

ERADICATING ENERGY POVERTY The AEC hopes to eradicate energy poverty by 2030, but it will require a collaborative approach with multiple stakeholders. The industry is the fastest growing sector in Africa with a focus on the youth.

The organisation celebrated the youth as its greatest asset and investing in human capital is one of the biggest priorities for Africa Energy Week 2022.
