Vicon has collaborated with Artanim, the Swiss research institute, and the award-winning VR group, Dreamscape Immersive on machine learning-powered markerless technology.

The organisations spent nearly three years in R&D on the product, focusing on integrating machine learning and artificial intelligence into markerless motion capture at Vicon's facility in Oxford, UK.

It enables users to capture motion capture performances without the need of markers, allowing for more free-flowing movement and exploration with less user gear, said the companies.

Commenting on the decision to partner with Vicon, Aaron Grosky, president and COO of Dreamscape said: We have been anxiously awaiting the time when markerless could break from concept and into product, where the technology could support the precision required to realise its amazing potential.
