Hello Kitty was introduced to the world in 1974 when she made her first appearance on a small plastic coin purse. Since then she's appeared on toasters and airplanes, been encrusted with diamonds, and has become a global icon and all that is supercute.
The past 40 years have been quite an adventure for a little girl only five apples high; in Hello Kitty, Hello 40 [Perfect Square, an imprint of VIZ Media, LLC], some of her friends from all over the world have gathered to pay tribute in story and art.
A gorgeous and distinct hardcover that will appeal to fans of all ages, Hello Kitty, Hello 40 is due for release on October 7, 2014 just a few weeks prior to Hello Kitty Reading Day's October 25,2014 debut.
Featuring unique illustrated narratives (40 to celebrate Hello Kitty's 40th anniversary plus one for good luck!), artist statements and memories from award-winning comic artists, toy creators, animation professionals, fine artists and muralists, Hello Kitty, Hello 40 will be available wherever books are sold as of October 7, 2014, as well as special numbered limited editions including an exclusive for the first-ever Hello Kitty Con (taking place October 30-November 2, 2014, at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA [Museum of Contemporary Art] in Los Angeles' Little Tokyo district). The Hello Kitty Con 2014 edition of Hello Kitty, Hello 40 features original cover art by Hello Kittymain series designer Jorge Monlongo, and gold gilded edging.
