Technology promotes innovation in Jiangbei

At the newly opened No.8 Park, over 70% of the 40 enterprises are technology-related companies, in such fields as the Beidou navigation, net of things and biotechnology. The industrial base of the smart net of things, jointly built with Ningbo University, will settle down at the park, according to a person in charge of the park. The base will focus on the development of such products as the broad net of things chips, the wireless communications analyzers, and the routers for the net of things, which will promote the rapid growth of the net of things plus industries in Jiangbei District and even in the whole city.

The park is an important step for Jiangbei District to build its two leading industries of optical coating and net of things. Based on the high-tech park of the new optoelectronic materials at the provincial level, the district will be built as the "optical coating center of China", that is, it will become the largest optical coating manufacturing base in China, the innovative center for high-tech optical coating materials, and a leading international aggregation area for optical coating talents. As for the net of things industry, the Ningbo Industrial Base of Net of Things is organizing the "national innovation and entrepreneurship competition for industrial net of things", with the aim of attracting distinctive teams and high-end talents to build the innovation and entrepreneurship brand of the district.

What is behind the construction of the two industrial bases is the solid foundation of the industrial development of the district. Currently, there are over 300 large-scale enterprises in Jiangbei District, including over 100 enterprises in the two fields. Keli Sensing Technology Co. Ltd., a leading enterprise in the net of things industry, is transforming from a traditional manufacturer to a modern enterprise group, as well as from a load cell producer to a net of things enterprise. Ningbo Exciton Technology, the first TFT-LCD optical coating producer founded by Zhang Yan, a national "1000-experts program" talent, has also settled its manufacturing base in the district.

Technology has thus promoted the innovative development of the economy of the district. In the first quarter of this year, the added value of the high-tech industries in Jiangbei District stood at 1.33 billion yuan, up by 9.5% over the same period of last year, accounting for 59.1% of the total added value of the large-scale enterprises. At present, Jiangbei District ranks No.6 in the whole province in terms of the comprehensive assessment of technological advancement.
