Through the Lens of Challenged Athletes

Adaptive athletes are some of the most extraordinary people on the planet, and at the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF), there is no shortage of incredible spirit, heart and ability.

What started as a fundraiser 27 years ago to help one friend with quadriplegia overcome adversity has now created a global movement to change the perception of what's possible for people with physical disabilities. CAF was founded in 1994 and has since become a world leader in helping people with physical challenges gain access to sports. More than $123 million has been raised and over 30,000 individual funding requests have been satisfied in 103 different sports across 50 states and 42 countries. Whether it's a grant for a handcycle, WCMX skate or basketball chair, mono-ski, adaptive surfboard or a carbon-fiber running prosthetic not covered by insurance, CAF has helped thousands of athletes with physical challenges gain access to sports worldwide.

Sports are a pathway to more fulfillment in life, and that's why CAF is committed to providing access to adaptive sports equipment, camps and clinics, training, travel and competition expenses for athletes of all abilities across a wide variety of sports and activities. Challenged athletes focus on what they can do, rather than what they can't. They break down barriers and recognize their true potential in life. There are thousands of stories at CAF of overcoming adversity from youth athletes to Paralympic gold medalists. Athletes with disabilities are helping drive the action sports world forward by pushing boundaries in adrenaline-pumping adventures and high-risk tricks.

With the exploding popularity of action sports, endurance challenges and epic adventures comes the desire for high quality video footage to showcase it. And when it comes to GoPro, our CAF athletes are sharing their world with all of us by mounting their cameras in unique ways to capture their triumphs and tell powerful stories through their lenses.

GoPro has helped shape the mindset that anything is possible in the water, at the skatepark, on the mountain, in the snow, on the road or in life. Adaptive athletes are accomplishing more now than ever before and with unparalleded camera angles, perspectives and points of view, the true spirit of our extraordinary athletes can be captured!
