KCET EXPANDS ITS HIGHLY RATED BBC PROGRAMMING TO INCLUDE TWO NEW MYSTERY CRIME THRILLERS BEGINNING OCT. 2 at 8 PM

New Series Include Foyles War, set in Great Britains WWII and New Tricks, a Modern-day Comedy about Retired Police Officers Who Investigate Unsolved Crimes

Los Angeles - September 26, 2011 - KCET, the nations largest independent public television station serving Southern and Central California, expands its arsenal of highly-rated BBC programming with two new mystery crime thrillers including Foyles War premiering Oct. 2 at 8 p.m. and New Tricks Oct. 3 at 8 p.m.

Described by the Wall Street Journal as a triumph from start to finish, Foyles War, airing Oct 2. at 8 p.m., follows police detective Christopher Foyle (Michael Kitchen) as he tackles home-front crimes in his English coastal town of Hastings as WWII rages across the Channel. The battle finally comes to Foyle in its own way as he probes war-related cases of murder, espionage, and treason. Mystery blends with real-life historical war stories, moral complexity, and period atmosphere in this suspenseful British series.

In New Tricks airing Oct. 3 at 8 p.m., Detective Superintendent Sandra Pullman leads a motley crew of retired police officers in re-opening troublesome cases that were never laid to rest. From the discovery of a new motive in the killing of a college lecturer, to the tracing of a missing child, the team finds a way through the detail that eludes the original officers. However, throughout their new investigation, they find a surprising incidence of cover-up and conspiracy. Suspicion runs high, and the team is determined to get to the bottom of it - these old dogs dont roll over easily.

Foyles War and New Tricks join the ranks of several British programs offered on KCET including Doc Martin, Prime Suspect, Mi-5, Rosemary and Thyme, Hustle. Other distinctive programs to garner some of the stations highest ratings since becoming independent public media for Southern California include BBC World News, and special royal wedding coverage surrounding the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
