The Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild (MUAHS) has announced the winners of its annual awards which took place at the Paramount Studios Theatre on 15 February.

Golden Globe-winner Ron Perlman (Sons of Anarchy) presented the Distinguished Artisan Award to his long-time friend and collaborator Guillermo Del Toro (Crimson Peak). Acclaimed director John Landis presented the Make-Up Artist Lifetime Achievement Award to Oscar-winning make-up legend Rick Baker. Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) president Cheryl Boone Isaacs presented the Hair Stylist Lifetime Achievement Award to Emmy Award-winning hair stylist Kathryn Blondell.

Presenters for this year s awards included Alfre Woodard (State of Affairs), Sarah Paulson and Jamie Brewer (American Horror Story: Freak Show), Darby Stanchfield (Scandal), Tony Revolori (The Grand Budapest Hotel), Ethan Embry (Grace and Frankie), Raymond Cruz (Better Call Saul), Amy Landecker (Transparent), Beau Garrett (Girlfriends Guide to Divorce) and Jillian Rose Reed (Awkward).

Best Contemporary Make-Up: Elizabeth Yianni-Georgiou for Guardians of the Galaxy

Best Contemporary Hair Styling: Jerry Popolis and Kat Drazen for Birdman

Best Period and/or Character Make-Up: Frances Hannon and Julie Dartnell for The Grand Budapest Hotel

Best Period and/or Character Hair Styling: Frances Hannon and Julie Dartnell for The Grand Budapest Hotel

Best Special Make-Up Effects: David White for Guardians of the Galaxy

Television and New Media Series winners:

Best Contemporary Make-Up: Tracey Anderson, Michelle Garbin and Sabine Roller Taylor Sons of Anarchy

Best Contemporary Hair Styling: Mary Guerrero, Kimi Messina and Jennifer Guerrero-Mazursky for Dancing with the Stars

Best Period and/or Character Make-Up: Magi Vaughan and Erika kvist for Downtown Abbey

Best Period and/or Character Hair Styling: Magi Vaughan and Adam James Phillips for Downtown Abbey

Best Special Make-Up Effects: Greg Nicotero and Jake Garber for The Walking Dead
