I came to Comala because I had been told that my father, a man named Pedro Paramo, lived there.

Netflix has announced the start of production of the screen adaptation of Pedro P ramo. The novel by Juan Rulfo is one of the most representative works in Mexican literature. Rodrigo Prieto, one of the most recognized cinematographers worldwide, will debut as director with this feature film. The screen adaptation was made by award-winning screenwriter and director, Mateo Gil.

Pedro P ramo was deeply impactful for me from the first time I read it, and bringing this novel by Juan Rulfo to the screen will be a feat in all aspects. We are constantly searching for our roots, for who we are, and this really appeals to me from the novel. I can especially relate to Juan Preciado, who is looking for himself and for his country while searching for his father. He represents the Mexican people in that we are mixed- mixed in our roots and our races , said Rodrigo Prieto, director of the film.

Our commitment to Mexican cinema takes on a whole new dimension with the start of production of Pedro P ramo, the adaptation of Juan Rulfo's seminal work. We are proud to take on this challenge, hand in hand with one of Mexico's most talented and universally renowned artists, Rodrigo Prieto, who will direct Mateo Gil's excellent script. We want Mexico to be seen and be felt with Pedro P ramo , said Francisco Ramos, VP of Latin American Content at Netflix.

Leading the cast are Manuel Garc a-Rulfo and Tenoch Huerta as Pedro P ramo and Juan Preciado, respectively. They are joined by Ilse Salas, Mayra Batalla, H ctor Kotsifakis, Roberto Sosa, Dolores Heredia, Giovanna Zacar as, No Hern ndez and Yoshira Esc rrega among many other well-known talents.

Pedro P ramo will also have major talents behind the scenes: Eugenio Caballero and Carlos Y. Jacques in production design, Anna Terrazas in costume design, and Gustavo Santaolalla will compose the score. Producers are Stacy Perskie (Redrum) and Rafael Ley (Woo Films), two of the most relevant in the Mexican audiovisual industry. The film will be shot in different locations around the country over the next months. The premiere is expected for 2024.
