Mickey Dube s feature film The Coma gets NFVF funding --

South African director Mickey Madoda Dube s anticipated feature film The Coma has received funding from the National Film & Video Foundation (NFVF). The Coma will be produced by 1 Take Media South Africa, the production company co-owned by Dube and the film s lead actor Fabian Adeoye Lojede.
The Coma was adapted from the stage play written by Canadian based writer Jude Idada. The film has been in the pipeline for over two years with over 90 percent of the film to be shot in South Africa and certain scenes to be shot in Los Angeles and Nigeria.
The Coma will be the film debut of Somali international super model Yazmin Warsame, who has been cast alongside Lojede.
The film follows two siblings battling over the life of their ailing mother (Mary Twala, South African veteran actress) who is in a coma. One wants to pull the plug. The other wants to keep her alive. One is male and the other female with one residing in Lagos and other in California, United States. In a battle of wills, dark family secrets come to light, relationships are shattered and the true meaning of love is revealed. The film touches on the African attitude and perspective to the modern day debate on euthanasia
Warsame flew in last year from New York for a reading and workshop on the film with Mickey Dube and Fabian. The shooting of the film will begin in 2015.
