Before you continue reading this RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars 4 Rucap please note this piece contains heavy spoilers!
RuPaul's Drag Race is back with the fourth edition of All Stars and we have already met the queens and been treated to a sneak peek.
During the first ten minutes of the show eight queens enter before RuPaul welcomes them to All Stars and announces the arrival of team Latrila, Latrice Royale and Manila Luzon, who featured on All Stars 1 and competed as a team. They are handcuffed together sparking fears of a return to the team format of the first season of the Drag Race spin-off. This turns out to be a bluff from the producers as it is announced they will compete seperately and that All Stars rules are in full effect.
The top two queens will lip sync for their legacy', a cash tip of $10k and the right to send one of the bottom queens home.
Mini-challenge In the great tradition of Paris is Burning the library is open! The first mini-challenge is the highly anticipated reading challenge.
For all its hype the reading challenge fell a little short of genuine laughs though Naomi Smalls surprised with her read of Farrah Moan.
Naomi quipped: Farrah Moan is so dumb, she thought Valentina was her best friend.
Seasoned queens Manila Luzon and Latrice Royale do the best job delivering reads that are genuinely funny with just the right amount of edge.
Mini-challenge Winner: Latrice Royale
Maxi-challenge As with All Stars 3 the season opening maxi-challenge is a talent show and in the werk room the queens size up the competition and assess one another's talents.
Jasmine Masters reveals that she will be delivering an off-the-cuff stand-up comedy set. Some of the other queens urge Jasmine to work out a framework to operate within but she insists that she is funnier speaking from the heart.
Trinity The Tuck reveals that her talent will be Tucking. The other girls are a little confused by this and Gia Gunn is the first to say she doesn't think tucking is a talent. Trinity explains that her set will be a comedy lip sync to display her growth since season 9.
In the talent show Mon t X Change, Monique Heart, Naomi Smalls, Trinity the Tuck, and Valentina all perform a mixture of lip sync and live singing performances. The queens who stepped outside of that box were Farrah Moan who performed a burlesque routine, Gia; who stunned with a display of the Japanese art of Kabuki, Latrice delivered a colorguard performance, Manila did a live painting performance and Jasmine did her stand-up.
Farrah slips during her routine and suffers a hard fall, clearly shaken she struggles to finish and is certain to be in the bottom. Jasmine's comedy completely bombs and gets the full on crickets treatment. Mon t makes the brave choice to start her performance with live singing and misses the mark as she croaks out the start of her track soak it up'. Judge Michelle Visage would later pick out Mon t for her choices saying We've seen it before.'
If Mon t needed a lesson on how to milk your gag but still keep it fresh she need only look to her season 10 sister Monique Heart. Monique brought Brown Cow Stunning' to life and is a clear early favourite to win the challenge delivering a strong opening to the All Stars Talent Show.
Valentina delivers a simple performance with a clear message, she CAN lip sync!
Trinity's tucking tutorial is genuinely funny and the Tuck really speaks for itself.
It is clear that each queen understands what their brand is but the challenge for each of them will be to keep it fresh to ensure they stay out of the bottom and go forward on the show.
After the talent show is done RuPaul announces that Gia, Latrice, Manila, and Valentina are safe.
From the judges critiques it becomes clear that the top three performers are Trinity, Monique and Naomi Smalls while on the bottom are Farrah, Jasmine and Mon t.
In deliberations both Monique and Trinity have already had it with the emotional Farrah's crying and tell her as much very early on, both are critical of Jasmine's lack of preparation and both outline their intention to send home the weakest queen.
Challenge Winners: Monique Heart and Trinity the Tuck
Bottom Two: Farrah Moan and Jasmine Masters
Lip Sync for your Legacy Monique and Trinity face off in the first lip sync of the season to Emotions by Mariah Carey. Farrah and Jasmine are up for elimination.
Trinity changes into a floor length gown for the lip sync while Monique remains in her brown cow outfit.
Monique breaks one of the cardinal rules of Drag Race lip sync when she snatches herself bald and to make matters worse her wig gets stuck in the lighting rig above the set.
Trinity is announced the winner after a solid lip sync performance (a good start for Trinity but she will need to up her game in future). Trinity reveals that she has chosen to eliminate Jasmine.
Lip Sync for Your Legacy Winner: Trinity the Tuck
Eliminated: Jasmine Masters
