Beenius announces new Android Set-Top Box app to improve consumer experience

Enabling operators to deliver user friendly, cost effective and joined up services, interactive TV middleware developer Beenius today announced its new Android Set-Top Box (STB) client. The app will be demonstrated at IBC 2013 on stand 14.121.

The Android app extends Beenius Beesmart open and flexible interactive TV middleware platform, providing greater choice to operators and their customers and supporting the move towards connected TV. Operators benefit from the lower deployment costs of Android along with the power of Beesmart to deliver customised, scalable services through IPTV, OTT and hybrid cable on all devices. This increases competitiveness and provides operators with a platform for future growth.

Customers receive seamless access to the same 1 million+ apps as available on their Android tablets and smartphones through their Google Play account, enhancing engagement and increasing loyalty. The Android STB client means they can play a full range of games, access services, listen to music and read books and magazines optimised for their TV. At the same time they can stay connected by sharing through social networks using the BeeSocial TV features within the app, which boosts user satisfaction and provides a joined up experience.

The move to the connected home is driving increased consumer expectations. The new Beesmart App for Android-based STB enables operators to meet these demands by providing greater choice and a joined up approach, said Filip Remskar, Beenius CEO.
