Wife goes ballistic after catching husband and mistress in Athlone [video]

Some real-life drama caused chaos in Athlone, Cape Town this week when a local woman caught her husband cheating with his alleged mistress. Uzair Achmat is the eyewitness who recorded the confrontation, and he revealed that all three got into an almighty brawl.

The video begins with the unnamed woman opening the driver's side door of a white car. She's shouting obscenities at the man behind the wheel and the woman in the passenger seat. According to Achmat, it became apparent early on that this was an argument about an extra-marital affair.

Athlone cheaters exposed Well, let us tell you know, hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. She begins throwing his belongings into the street, ransacking the backseats and leaving a pile of debris strewn on the main road. A hapless car guard tries to intervene, but with very little marriage counselling skills, there's not much he can do in this situation.

Things turn violent shortly afterwards. Not only does the cheated partner give her husband a few smacks, but she leans over to the passenger side and starts hitting the supposed mistress. She eventually gets out the car, screaming hysterically, before sheepishly getting back in once the situation has calmed slightly.

Son's involvement raises questions However, another person can be seen kicking the car and attempting to smash the windscreen. Achmat told his story to TimesLive and claimed it was the married couple's son who joined in the violence:

While she was hitting the lady, the son also started beating her [the alleged mistress] through an open window. The people told the son that he should not hit a female, but he just went on busting the car with bricks while the lady was in the car.

The whole event played out like an episode of the US series Cheaters, where suspicious partners catch their cheating other halves in the act. As we've already seen, a South African version would be off the scale.
